In the domestic import car market, corporate clients showed more preference toward European cars, while individual consumers preferred Japanese ones.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association on July 11, the share of corporate and individual clients in the purchasing of import cars during the January-June period of this year stood at 40.3 and 59.7 percent. Compared to 2010, the share of individual clients rose by 9.5 percentage points.
By brand, the share of individuals stood at 51.3 percent for BMW and 41.4 percent for Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz has a higher share of luxury models in total lineups, indicating that corporate clients have more preference toward premium models.
For BMW's flagship model 520d, individual clients accounted for a larger share of 57.7 percent. However, when it comes to the 525d x Drive Touring, 535 x Drive, 650 Convertible, 750, 760, and Active Hybrid, corporate clients accounted for 100 percent.
