Selected 15 tasks, including next-generation memory structure and OLED blue light emitting material research

Samsung Electronics has selected 15 projects to support research on themes designated for the company's future technology development projects. Eleven of them were focused on research and development projects for next-generation memory and displays.

Since 2014, Samsung Electronics has selected and supported future science and technology fields that require national research.

This year, Samsung Electronics selected a total of 15 tasks in four areas: innovative semiconductor materials, device and process technologies, next-generation displays, consumer robots, and diagnostic and healthcare solutions.

In the "innovative semiconductor materials, device and process technology" field, six tasks were selected, including next-generation memory semiconductors using ion migration, new materials to integrate NAND flash memory with 100 stories or more, and development of next-generation semiconductor packaging technology using diamonds.

In the "next-generation display" field, it selected five tasks, including overcoming limitations on efficiency of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) blue light-emitting materials, research on space modulation technology for holograms, and research on nanowire-based micro LEDs.

In the field of "consumer robots," the company selected two research tasks, including the development of peripheral nervous system optical fiber sensors that detect pressure, temperature, distance and vibration from the robot's skin.

In the field of "diagnosis and healthcare solutions," two tasks were selected, including air purification technology, which can effectively remove fine dust by distinguishing it by size and type.
