Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corp. (KOMSCO) won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and the Best CEO Award at the 26th Corporate Innovation Awards organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Dec. 9.
The "Corporate Innovation Awards," co-sponsored by the government and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, have been in force since 1994 to discover and reward outstanding cases of management innovation and to contribute to strengthening corporate competitiveness through the spread of innovative cases.
The KOMSCO and its CEO Cho Yong-man were highly praised for their "evolution of the business" such as mobile regional love and gift certificates amid the rapidly changing business environment, including a sharp drop in cash use, and for providing various public services for people to live in peace through innovative activities.
In addition, the early transition of irregular workers to regular ones and continued job creation for young people also served as key factors for their innovative achievements.
Based on the world's best anti-forgery technology and public confidence, the KOMSCO has actively pushed for diversifying its business around the public sector, including blockchain technology-based trust platform and genuine product certification projects that protect companies' brand values, to break the record of sales for six consecutive years.
"We will continue to carry out our original mission of producing money and national ID cards, while spearheading the realization of social values as a public corporation through continuous innovation," said Cho Yong-man, president of the company.
