The construction unit of Samsung C&T announced on Feb. 18 that it had won a contract with Japan's Marubeni Corporation, which is a developer, for the Fujairah F3 project ordered by the United Arab Emirates Water and Electricity Company.
The F3 project is the construction of a combined power plant facility with a capacity of up to 2,400 MW in the Fujairah region, about 300 kilometers northeast of Abu Dhabi.
Samsung C&T will be in charge of the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), and will be carried out on its own.
The order amount is about 1.15 trillion won, and construction is scheduled to be completed in April 2023. The F3 project is designed for a stable power supply in the northern Emirates, and it also aims to expand power facilities.
Samsung C&T has obtained good results for such power plant construction projects as the UAE S2, UAE Emal Phase 2, Saudi Arabia's Kuraya and Rabigh 2 IPP, and Qatar's Umm Al Houl IWPP in the Middle East.
In addition, the company is currently carrying out projects for UAE nuclear power plants, Saudi Riyadh Metro and Qatar's freshwater development project in the Middle East. It once again showed its presence as a global EPC player in the Middle East's power generation market.
