LG CEO Koo Kwang-mo said in a written greeting at a shareholders' meeting held at LG Twin Tower in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on March 27, "The worldwide spread of the COVID-19 continues to lead to an uncertain business environment. However, because there are opportunities for all difficulties, LG will wisely cope with the crisis and prepare for post-crisis growth."
CEO Koo said, "We will prepare for the future by upgrading our business portfolio and finding and nurturing growth engines, and increase our corporate value. While working as a corporate citizen, we will strive to become LG that receives trust and love from customers, investors and society."
In particular, he added that LG will continue its relentless challenge by putting customer value at the top of its list without being swayed while focusing on managing its products.
Regarding the COVID-19, meanwhile, CEO Koo said, "In times like this, we are checking every day about the safety of executives and employees and the operation status of global businesses. In particular, we are asking related organizations and top executives to look into the safety of executives and managers carefully and fully."
While each affiliate is currently checking supply and demand conditions in the global market on a daily basis, and preparing and implementing countermeasures such as production, SCM, and inventory management, Koo plans to check the current status of management in major business sectors and matters to be dealt with in a business environment that will be different after the COVID-19 crisis in preparation for a decline in global sales and a prolonged economic slump.
Earlier this month, Koo also encouraged executives and employees in self-isolation by delivering a message of support and kits of goods that help them maintain personal hygiene and health.
